Finally, a hairy woodpecker nested in a tree cavity along one of Oak Point’s trails and raised (and likely fledged) an undetermined number of youngsters. We can’t forget all the young Canada geese that were raised at Oak Point, at least 20 that we know of and possibly even more. An eastern phoebe that nested on the back side of the garage lost her first clutch of three eggs to an unidentified predator but had more success on her second clutch with three youngsters fledging. A tree swallow had undetermined difficulties and was able to fledge only two of her six youngsters. A black-capped chickadee was successful raising & fledging six youngsters.
